More About Aerosmith
Aerosmith is one of the world's most popular groups. The original band members were Steven Tyler on lead vocals and drums, Joe Perry on guitar, and Tom Hamilton on bass guitar. A second guitarist Ray Tabano came along and was later replaced by Brad Whitford. The group also took on another drummer by the name of Joey Kramer. Steven Tyler became the full-time singer by the end of the year.
The band was signed by Columbia Records in 1972. They played local clubs for a while until their first album was released. "Aerosmith" was released in 1973. The album included the classic "Dream On".
Aerosmith released their second album entitled "Get Your Wings". Thanks to an extensive tour schedule, sales were good.
One of their more popular hits, "Sweet Emotion" climbed to number three on the U.S. charts. The band was on a roll.
In 1979, Aerosmith released yet another album "Night In The Ruts". The record went gold despite it's disappointing sales. It was then that band members Joe Perry and Brad Whitford decided to call it quits. New members Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay came along, and the band released a "Greatest Hits" album. It sold over six million copies. Perry and Whitford rejoined the group.
Things were a bit quiet for a while, as the band decided to regroup. In 1987 they released "Permanent Vacation". There was no shortage of hits with this one. Songs included "Dude"(Looks Like A Lady), "Walk This Way" and "Rag Doll". The group had found success yet again
