Alanis Morissette was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on June 1, 1974. Her debut album, titled Alanis, was relased in 1991 in Canada only. Her second album, Now Is the Time, was released in 1992 - also only in Canada. Her third album, Jagged Little Pill, was released internationally in 1995, and it remained in the top twenty of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart for ever a year. The album won four Grammys and sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Following Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morissette has released several other albums Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, Alanis Unplugged, Under Rug Swept, Feast on Scraps, So-Called Chaos, and Flavors of Entanglement in addition to an acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill and a collection of her greatest hits. Throughout her career Alanis Morissette's music has fallen into multiple genres including alternative, pop, grunge, and adult contemporary. In addition to her vocal talents, Alanis Morissette also plays flute, guitar, harmonica, and piano. Throughout her musical career, Alanis Morissette has received numerous awards and has had several achievements. Jagged Little Pill, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, and Under Rug Swept all made their debut at number one on the Billboard Top 200. Jagged Little Pill was the number two best selling album of the decade for the 1990s. In total Alanis Morissette has won seven Grammys, and twelve Juno Awards. She has also won two American Music Awards, and three MTV Video Music Awards. To date Alanis Morissette has been nominated for a total of fifty awards and has won twenty-three. In addition she has also been inducted to the Canadian Music History Hall of Fame, and she received a lifetime achievement award from the Canadian Radio Music Awards luncheon during Canadian Music Week. Since the release of Jagged Little Pill in 1996, Alanis Morisette has been on tour nearly every year. She has toured in the United States and Canada numerous times as well as abroad.
