About Bon Jovi
John Francis Bongiovi known to millions as Bon Jovi formed his first band, Raze, at the young age of thirteen. Throughout high school he worked doing small gigs, but he had dreams bigger than that and determination to make those dreams reality. In 1982 the unemployed Bon Jovi landed a job in a recording studio where his cousin was the co-owner. There in that studio, Bon Jovi recorded several demos and sent them to numerous record companies with no luck. In 1983, a local radio contest held a contest looking for the best unsigned artist. Bon Jovi saw this as his chance to make it into the big time and went at it full force. Singing “Runway” he won the contest and the song became an instant hit.
In need of a band, Bon Jovi called some old friends, David Bryon, Tico Torres and Alec John Such. In 1983, looking for a guitarist, Richie Sambora signed on. In late January, the band’s new album, “Bon Jovi” was released. Selling over 500,000 albums, the band found themselves opening for artist that included Kiss, ZZ Top, and Scorpions. The years that followed Bon Jovi’s rocky start were successful and in 2006, Bon Jovi was inducted into the UK Music Hall Of Fame. This was not a shock considering the success of his hit single “Who Say’s You Can’t Go Home” in which performed with “Sugarland” singer, Jennifer Nettles.
