Chris Brown began his rise to fame as a teenager in 2005. He was influenced by Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin. He shot to stardom by recording songs that many of his young fans could relate to, and gained attention for his impressive dancing skills. Many people have compared the singer to his idol, Michael Jackson. In 2006, Brown performed "Thriller" at the World Music Awards in London in front of not only a worldwide audience, but Jackson himself. Chris Brown was born on May 5, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia and developed a love for his parents' soul records at an early age. Brown soon was fascinated with Hip Hop, and using Michael Jackson as inspiration he taught himself how to sing and dance. Soon after, the youngster would perform in the choir at church and compete in local talent shows. Brown was discovered at the age of 13 by a local production crew at his father's gas station. While working with local producers in 2004, he was signed to a major record label and work quickly began on his debut album. On November 29, 2005 Chris Brown's self titled album was released. The album was a huge commercial success and was certified two times platinum. "Up Close and Personal" was the title of the first Chris Brown tour, which also featured Ne-Yo. In November 2007, Brown released "Exclusive", which sold 1.9 million copies. In June 2008, "Exclusive: The Forever Edition" was released as a deluxe edition. To support the album, Brown set out on his Exclusive Holiday tour, and tickets to Chris Brown shows went fast as his rise to fame continued. Some of his biggest hits include "Run It!", "Yo! (Excuse Me Miss)", 'Kiss, Kiss" and "Forever". Chris Brown is currently working on "Graffiti", his highly anticipated album. Brown has been featured on hits by Ludacris, Nas, and T-Pain.
