About Counting Crows
Home to so many musical legends, from The Grateful Dead and Creedence Clearwater Revival, to metal greats, Metallica and punk rockers, The Dead Kennedys, San Francisco has given way to some of the most talented and influential artists over the decades. In the early 90’s, a new sound would emerge from the Bay area, and the world would be introduced to a musical masterpiece.
In 1991, Adam Duritz and David Bryson set out to take their music to new heights with their second project together, the Counting Crows. Duritz and Bryson were paired prior with a short-term project, the Himalayans. The Counting Crows gained popularity with their 1994 debut ‘August and Everything After’, featuring chart-topping singles ‘Round Here’ and ‘Mr. Jones’, and thus since became one of the most noted, melodic American musical talents. Their alternative acoustic sound can be heard amongst five studio and two live recorded albums, as well as dozens of live performances featured on the bands official website.
The distinctive tune of the Counting Crows comes from a multi-talented, seven-man bunch with a colorful variety of sound through a stand up bass, accordion, mandolin, keyboard and a collection of deep, powerful songs written and delivered by Duritz. Vocals are backed by guitarist and co-founder David Bryson and bassist, Millard Powers. Dan Vickrey and David Immergluck attune guitar and mandolin for a soothing sound, emphasized with a lively keyboard line from Charlie Gillingham and percussion by Jim Bogios.
Live performances are an experience second to none. When you experience a Counting Crows tour, expect a memorable night that could easily make its way to the top of your summer highlight reel. The music soothes the soul, accompanied by the soft, relaxing, yet vividly energetic tones of Duritz’ vocals. The Counting Crows are also known for a family closeness with their tour guests. Always expect group collaboration as a way for the band to express their appreciation to friends and fans, as well as kick up the excitement.
