More About Green Day
Green Day has been one of the best rock bands around since they first emerged out of California's bay area nearly two decades ago. So much so that tickets to Green Day are generally speaking some of the most difficult tickets to acquire. The terrific trio is composed of Billie Joe Armstrong as lead singer and guitarist, bassist Mike Dirnt, and Drummer Tre Cool.
The band ruled the rock scene in the mid 90's after the release of their major label debut Dookie in 1994, which helped to bring punk to the forefront of music as grunge began to fade into the background. Armstrong and company followed up their breakthrough album the following year with Insomniac. Their next album Nimrod, released in 1997, took their success to the next level. The song 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' struck a chord with music lovers everywhere, bringing Green Day new fans from all over the music spectrum. While different from the fast-paced rock they had become known for, 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' remains one of the bands best songs to date, and is still considered a sentimental favorite amongst all audiences. This more melodic and mature sound was continued on the 2000 album Warning.
After taking a few years off, Green Day made its triumphant return with 2004's American Idiot, which is arguably the band's tour de force, a smart and politically charged album that combined the sound the band had when they broke out into the mainstream a decade earlier with the maturity the trio had developed as people during that time. After American Idiot, it would be five more years until Green Day would be heard from again, with their latest album 21st Century Breakdown, a great follow up that was worth the wait.
