More About Jewel

Jewel is an artist that has had an interesting story. She was born in Payson, Utah, but later moved with her family to Alaska. She lived in a remote area where they had no inside toilet, but instead used an outhouse. She and her father sometimes performed at bars in the local area. Jewel eventually moved out and lived on her own in her van where she was eventually discovered. Not long before she was discovered Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers heard her perform and asked to see some of her music which she gave him. Jewel recorded her first album in 1995 titled Pieces of You which did amazingly well. Two of her singles reached the number two spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart including 'You Were Meant For Me' and 'Foolish Games'. This young woman creates unique music and she switches it up by having albums in several genres, even some CD's contain different types of musical styling. Her latest album is actually a country album which has done pretty well. Total with all her CD's Jewel has sold over twenty seven million albums world wide. She's been nominated for several Grammy's although she has yet to win. In 2008 Jewel married long time boy friend Ty Murray and they currently reside in Stephensville, Texas, on a ranch. Other than writing and singing music, Jewel has two successful books including an autobiography titled Angel Standing By: The Story of Jewel and a popular book of poetry called 'A Night Without Armor'.
