Josh Groban is easily one of the most celebrated classical/pop singers of his time, in most cases Josh Groban tickets sell out faster than any other concert performer currently holding regular tours. His voice ranges effortlessly from baritone to tenor in a display that awes those who listen to him. He was born and raised in the Los Angeles area of California and knew from an early age that his future lay in the world of music. Despite this heartfelt desire, Groban sought to focus first on his schooling as a teenager, putting off his singing career until he felt his grades could handle the added burden. However, in Bridges Academy in southern California, he discovered a curriculum which allowed him to mingle both school and theatre classes without hindering his academic learning. It was here that the young singer’s musical career found its first step.
Josh Groban took up voice lessons outside of school, the lessons adding professional quality to his baritone voice, which he used to sing and act in school productions. When he graduated the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 1999, he went on to attend the Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania as a theatre major. It was in college that he met David Foster, introduced to him by his vocal coach. Foster eventually became his mentor in the arts, after Groban’s first performance under Foster at the 1999 inauguration of California governor Gray Davis.
Before he had even finished out his first semester, the young man left college to accept a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records through David Foster’s sub-label 143 Records. From there, Groban’s musical career took off as he took up shows across the country, performing with notable figures such as Sarah Brightman, Lara Fabian, and others.
Every one of his four albums released in the US has achieved multi-platinum status more than once, even reaching this status internationally for two of the albums. Though since his first album release he has only done two of them, Josh Groban tours are a popular event world-wide, if you have a chance to see him live in concert, you should make time in your schedule to do it and it will no doubt be one of the best experiences of your life.
