About Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson may be remembered as the first contestant ever to win American Idol, but she has by far proved that she is more than just an American Idol winner. She has become an international diva that has sold millions of albums worldwide and has won numerous awards. The twenty-seven year old Texan native has been singing since the seventh grade when a music teacher heard her singing in the hallway and requested her to audition for the choir. After that Clarkson did musicals in high school such as Brigadoon and Annie Get Your Gun.
Clarkson currently has four studio albums and doesn’t show signs of slowing down. The follow up to her Idol win was Thankful and the year after that came Breakaway. Breakaway was a lot more rock oriented as she continued to strive to pull herself away from the title of American Idol Winner. She collaborated with former Evanescence member Ben Moody and Avril Lavigne wrote the title song Breakaway which was also featured on the Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement soundtrack. The song Since U Been Gone from this album earned Clarkson her first Grammy while the album as a whole also gave her a Grammy. So with two Grammy Awards under her belt, she was definitely well on her way out of the Idol shadow.
Kelly can also be seen in the country music world. She collaborated with Reba McEntire on the hit song Because of You and also worked with Rascal Flatts at the ACM Awards in 2006 where they performed the Flatts single What Hurts the Most. The collaboration with McEntire earned several nominations, but unfortunately none were awarded.
One thing you need to do, if you get the chance, is go to a Kelly Clarkson show. Her voice is that is critically acclaimed and a force to be reckoned with. Seeing her live is something else as she puts on a good show, you won’t be disappointed; many of her fans come out to see her, both young and old.
