Linkin Park is a rock band from Agoura Hills California. The band was originally started by three high school students Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon. They were called Xero at first, but that would soon change. After graduating from high school they decided to take their music aspirations more seriously and recruited three other members. They cut a demo and after a while of not hearing from any labels two of the members left making room for now front man Chester Bennington. At first they changed their name to Hybrid Theory, but shortly after went with their current name Linkin Park.
Hybrid Theory was their first album which was released in October of 2000. The album was a success by fans and critics alike. The album sold over 4.5 million copies in its first year making it the 2001 best selling album. With songs like Crawling and One Step Closer, the album had a darker side to it which seemed to attract a lot of attention. The disc also earned them three coveted Grammy nominations, one which resulted in a win. Their next album would be Meteora which would release at the beginning of 2003. Meteora proceeded to sell 800,000 copies in the first week. They received world wide recognition with these release debuting at number one in the US as well as the UK and number two in Australia.
Linkin Park have appeared on several major tours in their career such as Ozzfest, KROQ Almost Christmas tour, as well as the Family Values Tour. They have been known to tour for a long time after they release an album. With two singers in the band, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, they know how to really wow the crowd. Both Bennington and Shinoda received spots in the Hit Parade's list of heavy metals top vocalists. A Linkin Park tour is can consist of a high energy show with much crowd interaction.
