Metallica is one of the biggest recording bands in the history of Rock and roll. The band started in the early 80's and starting recording music with drummer Lars Ulrich, singer/guitarist James Hetfield, guitarist Dave Mustaine, and bassist Ron McGovney. In 1982, shortly after their start, Cliff Burton replaced Ron on bass. Just before the release of their first studio album "Kill 'Em All" the band fired Dave Mustaine and hired guitarist Kirk Hammett. About Metallica
Upon Cliff Burton’s death in 1986, the band hired newcomer Jason Newsted.
Metallica’s self-entitled album released in 1991, also known as the “Black” album, brought on much controversy by fans. New fans were being welcomed in by Metallica’s apparent new softer side, and old fans were disappointed. The album went on to be their best selling album. Metallica also released an album with the San Francisco Symphony titled “S&M”. This was the first time a metal band has performed with a full orchestra.
Metallica has recorded numerous studio albums, cover albums, and live albums. When Jason Newsted left the band in 2001, Metallica hired former Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rob Trujillo. Since, the band has released two albums, “St. Anger” and “Death Magnetic”.
With the release of “Death Magnetic”, Metallica has been on tour promoting their new album. The Metallica tour has shows set in the United States as well as Canada. Under the tour name World Magnetic Tour, Metallica tickets can be purchased on our site for many of the shows remaining on the schedule. There will be shows all over the U.S. including California, Michigan, Indiana, Nevada, and Texas, as well as shows in Canada including Toronto and Montreal. In 2009 Metallica was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band has nine studio albums, two live albums, two E.P.’s and one Compilation. The band has also had 44 singles, 23 music videos, and a box set release in their 28 year run.
