More About Nickelback

When Mike Kroeger worked at Starbucks, little did he know that the perfect name was being said every day. During an interview, Kroeger was asked how the name "Nickelback" originated. He smiled and stated, "Well we had customers that would come in and ask for a regular cup of coffee, the coffee was only 95 cents, when we would give the change we always said, here's your nickel back. When we sat around talking about band names, I had to laugh when I thought about it'. So in 1995, Mike and his brothers Chad and Brandon along with their friend Ryan Peake formed "Nickelback'. The Canadian based band soon topped the charts around the world in the early 2000's placing 11th in the rankings and 2nd in the foreign industry. It wasn't until 1998 that the band got its first break in the United States with the release of their first official album "State'. The album went gold in Canadian and United States Sales. In 2001 the album that really propelled the band to stardom was: "Silver Side Up'. With the single release of "How You Remind Me" topping the charts and showing the world what Nickelback had to offer. Controversy had been raised over the band in 2005 by different media groups, however this has not stopped the band as they continue to strive to reach their goals in the music industry. The band is based out of Vancouver and continues to work on new music that shows their versatility not only in the mainstream music world but also for the big screen as well.
