More About Ray Lamontagne
Ray Lamontagne was originally born in Nashua, New Hampshire in 1974, he grew to love music because of his father's music background. He attended Morgan Highschool in Morgan, Utah and constantly got into school fights and struggled to graduate because his grades was poor. He finally graduated and moved to Lewiston, Maine and found a job working 65 hours a week, one day he heard a song on radio called "Treetop Flyer" which is by the known singer Stephen Stills. That's when Ray decided to become a singer and songwriter. Soon after he was introduced to Jamie Ceretta of CMP records and he recorded his first album and sold it to RCA records in US and Echo records in UK. Within the upcoming weeks he worked with producer Ethan John and recorded "Trouble" in California. The album sold over 250,000 copies and was #189 at billboard 200 charts. During Lamontagne tour he played six songs for an episode of Austin City Limits which was aired in October of 2005. His songs are folk and brings tears and admiration. He released "Till The Sun Turns Black" in 2006 in US and this was his second album and this one hit the charts at #28 on the billboard 200 chart. He soon released a third album "Gossip In The Grain" which came out in 2008 and on RCA records and was one of his best known debuts it hit the billboard charts at #3 and sold over 60,000 units. Ethan Johns helped him released this song with the help of Lamontagne's touring band which was Jennifer Condos which played bass and Eric Heywood played the guitar and Ethan Johns played the drums. His 2008 US tour consisted of singer and songwriter Leona Naess, which guest singed on three of his songs 'I Still Care For You", "A Falling Through" and "Gossip In The Grain". Lamontagne is now living with his family on a farm in Maine and is known for his raspy voice in which he sings through his gut and not his nose. He has won a number of awards and performed at many charity events.
