Born in 1960, Sarah Brightman began her illustrious opera career at the age of three, when she began taking lessons at the Elmhurst School for Dance. For years Brightman entered competitions and performed in festivals and when she was eleven she was admitted to The Arts Educational School. Brightman worked with several different song and dance groups throughout her youth and was part of the band Pan's People, who had a number one hit with the song "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trouper" in 1978. In 1984 when Brightman was twenty-four she married Andrew-Lloyd Weber, whom she met when she was starring in his musical "Cats." However, in 1990 Brightman and Weber divorced and Brightman moved away from a stage career and toward a solo singing career. Throughout the '90's, Brightman experienced great success as a singer in Europe, performing songs at ceremonies and sporting events and performing duets with well-known artists such as Andrea Bocelli. The new decade brought more success for Brightman, as her albums began to appear on the Billboard charts. Brightman dabbled in many different musical styles, as evident on her album "Harem," which was influenced by Middle Eastern dance music. Brightman's Harem tour was immensely successful and her tours following that were successful as well. Recently, Brightman released her first studio album in five years, which received strong reviews. Brightman has been appearing in different parades and performed at the Beijing Olympics. She also took her first acting role in the independent film "Repo! The Genetic Opera" as Blind Mag, a successful opera singer.
