More About Snow Patrol

The first thing you need to understand about Snow Patrol is the fact that when they first started out, it was as a University band over in Dundee, Scotland. They had no idea that they were about to become one of America's favorite bands. They are quite the alternative band with members from Ireland and Scotland. They were first formed in 1995, as a three-band group. The early years were not the best for the band, but as with every great artist, they later became great. Their first signing was with Jeepster, who later in 2001 dropped the band. This was not a good move by the record label. However, Jeepster gave Snow Patrol their first big break as with most beginning similar bands. During the years from 2001 to 2005 the band went without a label, due to many of them watching the America bands more. This did not discourage Snow Patrol; they plowed through the harsh time and continued to play. In 2002, Big Life took over their label, which was slow going at first, but in 2003, they released a new album called 'Final Straw.' This was one of their better record dealings and they registered as number three on the United Kingdom singles charts. Now passing by a few years, even with the departure of Mark McClelland's, the band released a new album called 'Eyes Open' in 2006. It was released first in Ireland and then in the United Kingdom, and then last in North America. The song, 'Chasing Cars' got pushed to the top of the charts when it had a guest spot on Grey's Anatomy. Due to this the band was pushed to near instant success. Now, Snow Patrol has come a long way from playing in strip clubs, to dirty pubs. They have come from the gutter and risen above the rest and now sit near the top of the charts with great music. They have appeared on the British BBC, as well as on American stations. They have showed up on MTV and have even been a guest of Saturday Night Live. Coming from the University to almost instant success Snow Patrol has never forgotten who has made them the best. That is the fans that they continue to write music for daily.
