The American rock band, "Staind", was formed in November of 1995 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The group consists of Aaron Lewis who is the lead singer and guitarist, Mike Mushok the lead guitarist, Johnny April who is the bassist, and Jon Wysocki on drums. The four of them met through friends and started playing together covering bands like Korn, Rage Against the Machine, and Alice in Chains. They played in small clubs for the next year before self-releasing their album entitled, "Tormented', in November of 1996.
The group was then put on a show with Limp Bizkit, who saw their live performance and liked them. Staind put out their second studio album, "Dysfunction" on April 13, 1999 with Flip Records. The band kept going releasing their third album, "Break the Cycle'. The album featured the hit, "It's Been Awhile" which helped make the album debut at number one on the Billboards top 200 album charts.
Staind followed up "Break The Cycle" with "14 Shades of Grey" in 2003. The album debuted at number one and sold two million copies. The single, "Price to Play" was the official theme song for World Wrestling Entertainment's July Pay Per View, Vengeance. The WWE also used the song "So Far Away" on an edition of Raw in tribute to Mick Foley. The wrestling promotion also used a song from the bands fifth album, "Right Here', as a tribute to the reigning WWE Champion at the time Edge.
The groups sixth studio album entitled, "The Illusion of Progress" was number one on the top modern rock/alternative album charts. Staind also did a European tour with the rock band, Nickleback in 2008 promoting the album.
Staind will be on tour in the fall of 2009 with the reunited band Creed. They will be performing on October 10 in Kansas City, MO. On October 13th they will be in Clemson, South Carolina, and the 14th they will be in Nashville. The group went from playing in front of small clubs to performing in front of thousands of people and releasing six studio albums.
