About Sam's Town 300

The inaugural race was in 1997 and has become one of the most popular on the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which opened in 1997, is a 1.5 mile Superspeedway that is part of a complex featuring a drag strip, dirt track, and go kart facility. Jeff Green won the first Sams Town 300 in 1997 and Greg Biffle won the recent one ran in Feb. of 2009. Mark Martin and Jeff Burton have the most wins in the Sams Town 300 with 3 and both are the only multiple time winners of the event. The race is usually the fourth or fifth that is run on the nationwide schedule and its best to come here to get your tickets because they go fast for the tilt at Las Vegas.

In recent years, the Sams Town 300 has been an action packed, fast paced event. As a matter of fact, Brian Vickers set the Sams Town 300 track record for the fastest lap in the 2008 event with an average speed of 181.708 mph. Track reconfiguration in 2006 is what accounted to the faster speeds at Vegas. Still it has been Jeff Burton and Mark Martin who have both been the dominate drivers when the cars go to Las Vegas.
