The reason they have been so successful is they have quality ownership that makes great roster moves. Probably one of the biggest deals was when they traded Glen Rice for Alonzo Mourning. This would prove to be a great move for the Miami Heat. He gave them an inside presence that the team was lacking. However, the team struck gold in the 2003 draft when they drafted Dwayne Wade with the third overall pick. The following season they added there one missing piece to the puzzle when they traded for Shaquille O’Neal. When that deal went through, Miami Heat tickets sold out everywhere. The Shaquille O’Neal acquisition led to their first only NBA Championship in the 2006 season and the Miami Heat came back from being two games down in the NBA Finals to beat the Dallas Mavericks.

After the victory of beating the Mavericks in the Finals, Dwayne Wade was named the NBA Finals MVP. Shaquille O’Neal has since moved on, but the Miami Heat has a core nucleus of young guys. They have added Michael Beasley, Mario Chalmers, and Daequan Cook to go along with their all-star in Dwayne Wade.
