About Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers were founded in 1970 and began playing in the NBA in the 1970/71 season. Since their inception, the Cavs have faced a lot of up and down stretches. The 70s was a tough era for the team though they did manage to make the playoffs three times during the decade. Two of the three appearances ended in first round exits. During the 80s, the Cavs saw increased success with four playoff appearances during the decade, all resulting however in first round exits again. During the 90s it appeared the Cavs would finally establish themselves in the NBA as they reached the playoffs six times. After reaching the Conference Finals and losing to the Chicago Bulls in 1991/92 however, the team went on to exit the playoffs four times in the first round.

After a barren stretch from 1998/99 to 2004/05 in which the Cavaliers missed the playoffs every season, hope was on the horizon. In the 2003 NBA Draft the Cavaliers selected Lebron James and a new era of Cleveland basketball began. James carried the Cavaliers on his shoulders, lifting the team, his franchise, and the city to new heights. James has led the Cavs to the playoffs the past four years in a row. In Lebron’s third season the team reached the Conference Semifinals. In his fourth season they reached the NBA Finals, losing in four to the San Antonio Spurs. In James’ fifth season the team made it to the Conference Semifinals, losing to the eventual champion Boston Celtics. Last season James led his team to the Conference Finals where their red hot playoff form fizzled against the Orlando Magic.

Lebron James’ star power has made Cleveland Cavaliers’ tickets one of the hottest tickets in town. The addition of Shaquille O’Neal to the lineup adds even more star power and is likely to increase the demand for Cavaliers’ tickets. In the first month of the season Cleveland will welcome Charlotte, Washington, Dallas, and Boston to Quicken Loans Arena.
