The Dallas Stars team was established in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars and was then based out of Bloomington, Minnesota. The Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas shortly before the 1993–94 NHL season. The Dallas Stars played at the Reunion Arena until the 2001 season and then they were moved to the American Airlines Center.
The Dallas Stars have had much success since moving to Dallas and have won seven division titles, two President’s Trophies, the Western Conference championship twice, and the infamous Stanley Cup in the 1998 to 1999 season. Joe Nieuwendyk won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs in that season. The Dallas Stars do have a player that was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, also in 2009 this happened to the great Brett Hull, who became the first Dallas Stars to have this honor.
