About Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens, along with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, and Detroit Red Wings are the “Original Six” members of the NHL. During the 2009/10 NHL season the Canadiens will continue celebrations in honor of the franchise’s 100th year of existence. Montreal is the NHL’s most prestigious franchise with a record 24 Stanley Cup trophies to their name. The Canadiens play all their home games at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The Canadiens are coming off a tumultuous off-season that has seen a lot of changes to the franchise on and off the ice. Team owner George Gillett, strapped for cash, sold the franchise to Geoff, Andrew, and Justin Molson. The team also has a new coach, assistant coach, and goalie coach. Those won’t be the only new faces around the clubhouse as the season starts as the team has added several new players. The most significant signings have been Scott Gomez, Brian Gionta, and Mike Cammalleri. All these new faces will have to get on the same page quickly if the team hopes to keep their winning ways intact having reached the playoff two years in a row, and three times in the last four years.

Montreal Canadiens tickets are hard to find as the team has one of hockey’s most loyal fan bases. As one of hockey’s most successful franchises, Canadiens’ games are the biggest ticket in town. The Canadiens have a difficult schedule to start the season that will test their mettle early on. During the first month of the season Montreal will host Colorado, Ottawa, Atlanta, Toronto, the New York Rangers, and the New York Islanders at the Bell Centre.
