More About Minnesota Wild
The Wild entered the NHL in 2000 as an expansion franchise in the NHL's Northwest Division of the Western Conference. After up and down performances in the early seasons, the Wild began to establish themselves as a franchise worthy of respect around the league. The Minnesota Wild play all their home games at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
This off-season has brought with it drastic changes to the face of the Wild's franchise. The team's first and only head coach, Jacques Lemaire stepped down as the team's coach to be replaced by Todd Richards. Minnesota's first general manager Doug Risebrough also left, replaced by Chuck Fletcher. The Wild's first ever draft pick, forward Marian Gaborik, also left the team and joined the New York Rangers. The team has replaced Gaborik's scoring with NHL star Martin Havlat and as of late August has offered a contract to free agent Alex Tanguay. When the Wild take the ice this season, it will be the start of a new era in the State of Hockey.
Minnesota Wild tickets are among the hottest commodities in sports. The Wild have sold out every home game in franchise history, an easy feat in a state where hockey is king. The Minnesota Wild will be looking to return to form this season after a disappointing 2008/09 season saw them miss the playoffs after reaching the post-season the past two years. Minnesota's schedule to being the 2009/10 season isn't going to be easy. The Wild welcome Anaheim, Colorado, Carolina, Nashville, and the New York Rangers to the Xcel Energy Center in the first month of the season.
