The Seattle Seahawks name was chosen through a contest with more than 20,000 entries and over 1700 names to choose from. The Seahawk is another name for an osprey and is a fitting name for the Seattle and Puget Sound area. Fortunately, with the popularity of the team in the Northwest, it seems very unlikely they would be moved from the area.
