This uproariously funny show is very adults-only with musical numbers like 'The Internet is for Porn' and 'I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today'. Like Sesame Street, the characters in the show are a mix between real people and puppets. The actors playing the puppets are also their puppeteers.
The musical follows the lives of the residents of Avenue Q in Brooklyn, New York. Princeton is the main character, who is just moving in and searching for his purpose in life. He has a crush on Kate Monster, an assistant kindergarten teacher who dreams of opening a school for monsters. Some of their neighbors are roommates Rod and Nicky (based on Bert and Ernie), Trekkie Monster (based on Cookie Monster), and the former TV star turned Superintendent Gary Coleman, Brian and his wife Christmas Eve. The plot and songs tackle many adult issues such as racism, pornography, and homosexuality.
Overall, the Avenue Q show is absolutely hilarious. The writing, the performances, and the design of the puppets are all amazing. It's hard to resist buying the soundtrack and other merchandise after seeing this great Broadway show. Avenue Q tickets can be purchased through our website.
