These outsiders use competition to define themselves, apart
from their crazy families, while their struggle to escape
childhood is overseen by grown-ups who never completely
succeeded in escaping it themselves.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was nominated
for six 2005 Tony Awards and won two, for librettist Rachel
Sheinkin's laugh-filled book and for the performance of
Dan Fogler as an overweight speller blessed with a magic
