These cartoons ran in The New Yorker magazine from the 1940’s to the 1980’s. This show is currently being performed in Chicago as a tryout, and will officially open on Broadway in April 2010. The cast includes well-known actors such as Nathan Lane (last seen performing in the musical The Producers) as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth (famous for her role as Lilith on Cheers and Frasier) as Morticia.
The Addams family can be described as an American family that takes love of the morbid and macabre too far. Some of the main characters in the musical are Gomez (the father), Morticia (the mother), Wednesday (the daughter) and Pugsley (the son). The plot of the show focuses on Wednesday falling in love with a “normal” boy and how the family copes with the changes that this brings.
