More Auto Club Speedway Information
Auto Club Speedway is a two-mile “D-shaped” Superspeedway in Fontana, CA. Originally known as California Speedway from its opening in 1997 until 2007, the track features four separate configurations: the semi-oval speedway, a sports-car layout, and motorcycle layout, and a secondary interior road circuit. Also on site is the Auto Club Dragway.
The track capacity is 92,100 spectators, featuring a number of luxury boxes and the Auto Club Speedway Club. The track itself has 14-degree bankings in each turn, with an 11-degree banking on the frontstretch and a 3-degree banking on the backstretch. Spectator facilities include 60 restrooms (30 men’s and 30 women’s), 32,000 paved parking spaces, 1,800 reserved RV spaces in the infield, and more than 25 concession and souvenir stands. The first race at the track – the Auto Club 200 for NASCAR’s Winston West Series – was won by Kenny Schrader.
Auto Club Speedway hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekends each year, both of which also feature the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as well as the NASCAR Truck series for one weekend; it has also hosted events in the CART and IndyCar series in the past. Auto Club Dragway is a quarter-mile drag strip that hosts a number of NHRA drag racing events, as well as Street Legal drags and Junior drags. Motorcycle races at the track include the AMA Superbike Series.
